I'm Dati Kopadze, visual communication designer based in Tbilisi, Georgia, currently pursuing a degree in Communication Design at Free University of Tbilisi. I experiment with various mediums such as branding, typography, motion design, web concepts, and other creative projects. I have a particular interest in research-based works exploring Georgian culture and visual heritage.

One of these projects is an alternative Georgian alphabet, which I will talk about in this article. This alternative alphabet reimagines the signatures of Georgian artists from the Soviet era as an artistic exploration. Inspired by the paintings housed in the Fine Art Museum of Tbilisi, each letter captures the individuality and creative essence of the artist it represents.

By transforming these signatures into an abstract typographic form, the project invites viewers to engage with Georgia’s artistic heritage in a new and thought-provoking way. I’ve spent days looking for a Georgian artists, going to museums and focusing on their signatures to build an alternative Georgian alphabet.

Currently working on the concept of featuring a book as a product in the museum shop.
